FREE CAR DAY FOREVER!

Kota Tua (Old Kota, in English) is on the center of our goverment's attention. As for me, it is a very influential historic place which has many stories in it.

Government sets a new rule which is free car day. This program is giving, at least, an effort from government to save this interesting place. The stories are all about the places in Jakarta and the culture which is formed. The government sets this is not because of reducing traffic jam but they mostly concern about the shake that car may have given because the buildings are very vulnerable and fragile especially the rooftiles.

The government, actually, should have done this few back years ago. I was very disappointed about the lack of attention of them about the building. If you ever been here before, you might see the scratch or paint of the idle and unresponsible hands of its visitors. Too bad! And yet many people visit the place for the history, to relax or to take a really good photograph.

What i have heard from the radio that the rule is going to be valid forEVER! I hope this is would be brought very good side for the place, an interesting for many people to visit!

Kartini Day

Today is Kartini's Day. Kartini is powerful figure here in Indonesia. She is a woman who had put all effort to encourage women of Indonesia to sit and stand as tall as men. She was influential women in her era and still is today.

Today, as i rode home, i saw a student of elementary school was wearing traditional clothes. It is kind of tradition especially on her day. I just remember when i was at elementary school too.

Modern women here in Indonesia is still trying to put their energies as same as men. Women today is getting better and many of them who i already knew or i saw, is a great women in their career, family and both of those options.

As for me, Kartini has given me a lesson to respect and never underestiman a woman's power.

I met my girlfriends and said, 'HAPPY KARTINI DAY! I hope you are going to be better woman' and so for women across this BEAUTY-ful island.

Rumour has it!

I listened to the radio again this evening and i heard that Indonesia has the second largest fans of Red Devil a.k.a Manchester United. And rumour has it that they will come and visit Indonesia on July.

The official said that they will use STADIUM OF SENAYAN to load of its fans here in Indonesia. He also said that the other reason is going to be introducing the asian weather, what a superstar reason!

I am not big fans of them after Beckham left. But i'll be proud if they appreciate our developing beautifully country as their destination!

So, MU lovers (i don't know what to call the fans, the devils?) be ready to meet its star!!

the smile

the indonesian people here in the city are now more individual and selfish than ever and badly i am joining them but in a minor.

i know the city people A.K.A modern people have their own business and problem, but at least smile and don't be so selfish especially on the road.

when we're talking about the road here in the city, it's a mess and stressful. people are selfish to get their destination by taking someone else's road.

this morning, when i was going to the college and it was quite crowrded, of course i was in hurry too. this old man was at the same time with opposite turn that he was going to take of me. he was smiling, letting me go first!
of course, i let him go first and smile bigger
that's what i miss from Indonesia!

my boredom of the road went far away from my head right away
the power of the smile
thanks man

TEMPE

Tempe is so Indonesia. it is our traditional food. it is like soybean cake (raw version) and this food is so Indonesia..

tempe is usually wrapped by banana leaves (above picture) and it tastes better than using transparant plastic to cover it. and after you open the banana leaves, it will be like this and it's your choice what you're going to do or what shapes you like by cutting it to several parts.

the easy way to serve this food is by frying this and we know it as Tempe Goreng (fried Tempe-in English)

and there are many ways to serve tempe. like using flour to cover it and so it will crunchy

chop it up into smaller part then frying it with desirable spices especially hot spices ;)

mmmmm yummy! you must try it this SO INDONESIAN traditional food!

Museum Sejarah Jakarta, best known as Museum Fatahillah, is one place you must visit while you're in the city! Here are pictures when we were waiting for the turn to have a guide, and you better have the guide to explain every little detail things there. The guide will help you to know more about Jakarta. Damn I love this city!

Something in Sunda Kelapa

Sunda Kelapa is one of the biggest port and has historical values in every part. Me and my students went there to have Outing Class to know Jakarta. Here's pictures that we've taken there. From ships to open seas.

Club and Hotel

I am at Musro, One of the coolest club located in Jakarta.

I'm outside the Borobudur Hotel where the club, Musro in it. Nice hotel and so Indonesian!

Night in the City

The night was quieter than usual and you must take care of yourself and your things, it's just precaution! And you better get together with your friend, don't be alone!, you'll get lonely if you do. Haha Night in the city is quite good and no jam, yeah!

Here's MONAS at night!

Let me show you, myself and the gold perfectly!

I zoomed the gold with my handphone camera! There you go, not like gold, but that is!

The Capital

Jakarta is the capital of Indonesia. Jakarta is the most crowded city and the center of all govermental and business things. It has a lot to offer to everything and of course its main attraction is getting access to everything easily. The buildings are everywhere and include the fancy malls of course!

Jakarta is full of history since it was the center of everything (i will give you the history in detail). Since it's the center, you'll meet a lot of people here. Our native people is Betawinese people from Betawi tribe. It lives around the city and you may not find its traditional house, but somewhere in Jagakarsa, there's a place called Setu Babakan which still holds the thick of betawinese culture. Since i'm one of them, Let me describe the people.. We are really friendly and our bond with families, relatives and friends is strong. We talk out loud and so honest. Sometimes we can hurt your feeling but you need to know it's just the way we are without any intention to hurt. So, if you know me better, you'll be lucky because we're cool! ;) one more, we are helpful!

Talking about Jakarta people, you'll not only meet the native but also you can find others from different islands across Indonesia who come to work here because it's such big city and they think to find job here so easy, the fact isn't, and we are pile to another here especially they who don't have good educational background and abilities, of course they will end up as unemployment adding the total of Jakarta people beside the native.

Maintenance of the city is slower than i or you thought as a big city! Instead of, maintain the old buildings and roads which days to days are getting worse with hole in the road here and there and of course it dangers the people and jam even longer especially working hours week days! Now, we are busy making the busway which soon would be completed and the railway things to fulfill the category of metropolitan city! It affects a lot of people and adds problem in every sectors for sure. But so far bus way is very helpful, it's all acces bus to go anywhere in Jakarta. We're getting mixed up in a good and bad ways...
